Subaru Suprime-Cam DR2

About this page

This page provides access to the JVO Subaru Suprime-Cam mosaic image archive. The purpose of this archive is to provide quick look images taken by Subaru/Suprime-Cam. Those images were processed by a pipeline developed by JVO. Older data processed by the older pipeline are available at DR1 page.

Using the data for publication

All papers which make use of data taken with Subaru Telescope facilities should include the following acknowledgment on the title page as a footnote to the title.

"This research is based [in part] on data collected at Subaru Telescope, which is operated by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. We are honored and grateful for the opportunity of observing the Universe from Maunakea, which has the cultural, historical and natural significance in Hawaii."

More information on publication can be found at the Subaru web site Publishing Results from Subaru .

Please also include the following sentense on the title page as a footnote to the title or in the acknowledgment of the paper.

"[Part of] the data are retrieved from the JVO portal (http://jvo.nao.ac.jp/portal) operated by the NAOJ"

  • DR2.1 was released. Images of DR2.1 were created by stacking only the CCD images taken under better (not the best) photometric condition than those used for DR2.0 images. DR2.0 images are still available from the form in the advanced search tab. (2020-10-16)

Suprime-Cam Mosaic Data Archive

  • The purpose of this archive is to provide quick look images taken by Subaru/Suprime-Cam.
  • These data were processed by an automated data reduction pipeline developed by JVO.
  • Astrometric and photometric calibration was made by using Pan-STARRS1 DR2 catalog.
  • The entire sky is divided into small patches of sky region with an area of 0.42x0.42 deg^2 and mosaic images were created at each sky region.
  • Only CCD data taken with good quality (seeing < 1.2 arcsec, number of detected sources >= 100 for each CCD etc.) were used for creating a mosaic image.
  • Flat fielding was performed by using a master flat frame which was calculated for each combination of CCD and filter by using object data taken on various dates.
  • Metadata of all the mosaic data and URLs to retrieve the data are described in mosaic-meta-201014.psv.gz.
  • Statistical information of the data set is described in "Statistical information" page. The typical FWHM of the point spread function is 1.0", astrometric accuracy is 0.13", and photometric accuracy is 0.1 mag. The photometric accuracy depends on the observed wavelength; It gets worse at shorter wavelengths, e.g. 0.5 mag for W-J-U and 0.35 for N-B-L359 etc.. .
  • Our pipeline makes use of SDFRED1, SDFRED2, FTOOLS, SExtractor, SCAMP, SWarp, and ROOT. The GUI of our archive system makes use of Aladin Lite. We would like to thank the developers of those software for making them available to the public.
